If you're headed to E3 2018 and are part of the massive Nintendo fan base chomping at the bit to play Super Smash Bros. on Nintendo Switch, Nintendo has some exciting news! More within...
Last year, thousands of the gaming community filed into the Los Angeles Convention Center with their hearts full of hope to play all the latest and great gaming titles, before they released. Much to their surprise, they quickly learned that the E3 experience is mostly standing in line for hours just to play a few minutes of their most anticipated games. After hearing your concerns, most developers have been trying to make the E3 experience a better one by extending hours and trying to get media in and out of the Expo before it all begins. However, Nintendo has upped the ante by allowing fans to skip the line altogether in order to play their marquee game.
Earlier today, Nintendo announced that they will be allowing gamers to register to play one of the most anticipated titles at E3 2018, Super Smash Bros. on Nintendo Switch. The motive behind this well-received announcement is "to improve the ways people can maximize the fun they have with Nintendo at E3", said Nintendo of America VP of Sales and Marketing, Doug Bowser in a statement on the announcement. He went on to say, “This year our focus is on the upcoming Super Smash Bros. game, and we want as many people as possible to give it a try.”
While we don't know where you need to go to register, we do know that there will be two categories to register under, "For Fun" and "For Glory". As the titles suggest, "For Fun" is for casual gamers. "For Glory" is for those gamers who want the thrill of defeating the opposition in competitive elimination matches. Both will be available to regist on June 5. It'll be a first come, first serve deal and gamers will only be allowed to register for one of the modes.
Nintendo also invites gamers to bring their Nintendo Switches to the expo. Not only will it come in handy when you're sitting in line with the masses, but Nintendo will have team members roaming the Nintendo booth and the halls of the LACC looking for Switch owners to give them a special gift, a one-of-a-kind commemorative Nintendo Switch pin.
E3 can be an exhausting and somewhat disappointing time of year, for those who aren't prepared for the rigorous 3 days, but Nintendo is doing whatever they can to make it enjoyable for all the fans and media who have traveled long distances to be there.
