Activision shows a ton of Black Ops 4 content for their fans, but alienates others in the proccess.
Call of Duty has definitely changed over the last 15 years. As those years have gone by, we all knew that the series would eventually have to make some changes to stay relevant. Today, Activision and Treyarch showed off a ton of content for the upcoming Call of Duty: Black Ops 4, but there are a few fans a tad bit upset. The multiplayer mode was shown first and it actually looks like a pretty decent experience. Treyarch also kept to their word and made it boots on the ground only, that means NO JETPACKS AND NO WALL RUNNING. Specialist are back with new weapons and there will be a total of 8 in the game.
The one Specialist I'm super excited to FINALLY see in the series is the support character named Crash. His main ability is to restore and gives bonus health to his team. Crash can also place assault packs around to give his team more ammunitions! We will also see three returning Black Ops 3 specialist and they are Ruin, Seraph, and Firebreak. The only sad thing I learned about the multiplayer is that it will be 5v5 instead of 6v6. I don't know how I feel about team deathmatch getting smaller, but we will have to wait till E3 to see how it plays.
Moving on from multiplayer, the zombie mode looks to be truly amazing! There will be 4 new characters introduced and day one we are getting three zombie maps! Each one of the maps will be completely different from the other, but will also feature the return of a fan favorite map as well! The maps will range from a Gladiator-themed map named "IX", “Voyage of the Despair” which is a Titanic-themed map, and last but not least a re-mastered release of the fan fav "MOB OF THE DEAD" called "BLOOD OF THE DEAD"! The zombie mode itself makes me want to buy this game!
Activision then announced the long-rumored Battle Royale mode called "Black Out". This mode is said to be a unique Battle Royale experience that only Call of Duty could make. Black Out will feature some of fans favorite characters, weapons, vehicles, and will even have Zombies for players to face off against! Battle Royale game modes have been dominating the games industry this past year and it only makes sense for Activision to jump on the bandwagon. It was also announced that Black Ops 4 will be coming to PC exclusively on Battle.Net! This is huge for PC gamers and something a lot of fans have wanted, for years.
Now, with all that good news I have some bad news to announce. It is official that Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 will not have a campaign this year and boy are some fans mad. With the success of games like OverWatch, I am sure Activision has been planning a non-campaign COD for some time now. Even though we all knew this would probably happen some fans are super pissed. Some of the tweets you are about to see are filled with graphic language.
Black Ops 4 looks like absolute shit. Hideously outdated visuals, copy and paste gameplay, and of course, no campaign. This series is gonna die really fucking fast.— The Dishonoured Wolf (@DishonouredWolf) May 17, 2018
Well @CallofDuty, no campaign means I won’t be buying Black Ops 4. First time in years too. Zero interest in Online only experiences.— Travis Saucier (@EvilEnygma) May 17, 2018
What, NO single campaign in Black Ops 4? Battle Royale multiplayer? You got to be freaking kidding me. I will show you where the trash bin is— Romanov Arthur (@K1ngArtes) May 17, 2018
So, as you can see some fans are pretty pissed to see no campaign in this year's Call of Duty. I'm sure Activision has been planning this for some time, with the success of games like OverWatch. I waited over 3 months before I even played a match in OverWatch since it didn't have a campaign mode. With Black Ops 4 though, I feel the Treyarch is really trying for something new and I may have to just shut up and give it a chance. While at E3, we will give you more information on this game, along with our hands-on impressions. Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 launches October 12th for PS4, Xbox, and PC!
