Shenmue I and II Remaster Gets an August Release Date

Eager fans who've been anxious to dive back into the world of Shenmue on their modern consoles will get their just in a little over a month as Sega has revealed the HD Remaster's release date!

As many wait for Shenmue III, which won't be arriving until sometime next year, we'll soon have the chance to play (or replay) the original games that sparked such a passionate fandom. Since the games originally launched on the Dreamcast (Shenmue II did hit the original Xbox), options for playing these games are fairly limited.

If you never had the chance to check them out and are curious what all the hubbub is about, you'll have the chance to catch up on August 21st, when they arrive on PS4, Xbox One, and PC.

From today, Shenmue I & II is available to pre-order digitally on PSN, Xbox Marketplace and Steam with a 10% discount ahead of its launch on August 21, 2018. Shenmue I & II is also available to pre-order now from SEGA approved digital retailers. The physical edition is available to pre-order from US and EMEA retailers** and comes complete with a double-sided poster starring fan-favourite characters from the hit saga as well as reversible cover art featuring original artwork.

Since their original releases, Shenmue I & II have established a passionate following and are revered as one of gaming's greatest series of all time. These revolutionary masterpieces deliver a gripping story of retribution as Ryo Hazuki sets out to avenge his father's death and attempts to unravel the secrets behind a mysterious artefact known as the Dragon Mirror.

This is the definitive version of these all-time classics and will be the best Shenmue experience to date. The re-release will contain all-new modernised features including fully scalable screen resolution, choice of modern or classic control schemes, PC graphics options, an updated user interface and the option to enjoy either the original Japanese or English voiceovers.

Will you be picking up Shenmue I & II next month?
