Last year, the PC community shattered Activision's record for most units sold on PC. One year later, Activision is saying thank you with two pretty cool gifts. More within..
Destiny 2 has been out for about a year now on PC, but Activision hasn't forgotten what the PC Master Race did for them. During it's highly-anticipated release on PC, via Blizzard's Battle.net, Destiny 2 quickly became the largest PC launch in Activision history, though the exact numbers still haven't been released. Nevertheless, in that honor, Activision has decided to say "Thank you" to the PC Master Race by allowing PC gamers to download Destiny 2 for free from now until November 18, 2018 on the Battle.net site.
“We know Destiny players that want to play on PC expect an amazing experience, whether it’s on their own or with their friends -- so, our paramount concern was to keep the discerning requirements of the PC community in mind, and welcoming the Battle.net and Bungie PC communities together,” said Steve Cotton, game director for Destiny 2: Forsaken at Bungie. He added, “With this gift we look forward to seeing new Guardians in our universe.”
For players that already own Destiny 2 on PC, this doesn't really sound like a gift. Fortunately, Activision/Bungie thought about that. Bungie has developed an anniversary emblem, exclusive to PC. It's not much, but it's a decent enough thank you to all the faithful Guardians that made Destiny 2 the biggest PC launch in Activision history.
One of the biggest things I and the rest of the gaming community appreciate, is how committed and considerate Bungie is to their fans. They do their best to give back to the community with new updates, events, weapons, free content, and the occasional trial weekends for their prolonged shooter. Speaking of trial weekends, Bungie will be hosting another Destiny 2 Forsaken Gambit Free Weekend from November 7 to 9, for gamers that don't already own Forsaken.
Destiny 2 is now free on PC until November 18, 2018 via Battle.net!
New Battle.net accounts created after 11:00 a.m. PDT on November 2, 2018, will be required to enable Blizzard SMS Protect before claiming their game license.
