Easily one of the most anticipated launch games for the next generation consoles (the PS4 and Xbox One) is Watch_Dogs, Ubisoft's upcoming open-world action adventure. The game has been stunning audiences since it's first debut a couple E3's ago, and with just a month before it's launch, Ubisoft has made the decision to push the game back into 2014. Come inside for all the details on this sad news...
The word just came in from the company's blog page where they said:
"Our ambition from the start with Watch Dogs has been to deliver something that embodies what we wanted to see in the next-generation of gaming. It is with this in mind that we’ve made the tough decision to delay the release until spring 2014.
"We know a lot of you are probably wondering: Why now?" Ubisoft wrote. "We struggled with whether we would delay the game. But from the beginning, we have adopted the attitude that we will not compromise on quality. As we got closer to release, as all the pieces of the puzzle were falling into place in our last push before completion, it became clear to us that we needed to take the extra time to polish and fine tune each detail so we can deliver a truly memorable and exceptional experience.
"We would like to take this opportunity to thank all of you. We thoroughly enjoy and appreciate the way you respond on the web, at events, press conferences and other opportunities we have to interact. Your passion keeps us motivated.
"We can’t wait to see you in Chicago next spring. We are confident you’ll love this game as much as we love working on it."
Well damn. This is kind of a bummer, considering many fans were preparing to get their hands on the game in just a month's time, and most of the people I've talked to always listed this as their first game when they pick up their PS4s or Xbox One's. It must have been a very hard call for the developers, knowing how much hype the game already has, but we're hoping this move is for the best.
Ubisoft already has a game coming out in Assassin's Creed 4, on top of which, the Holiday season is always packed with games. Perhaps moving to the Sping time will give it more of the attention it deserves. What do you guys think of this delay? How many of you were picking it up next month?
