Dolittle

Robert Downey Jr. stars as one of literature’s most enduring characters in a vivid reimagining of the classic tale of the man who could talk to animals: Dolittle. After losing his wife (Kasia Smutniak) seven years earlier, the eccentric Dr. John Dolittle (Downey), famed doctor and veterinarian of Queen Victoria’s England, hermits himself away behind the high walls of Dolittle Manor with only his menagerie of exotic animals for company.  But when the young queen (Jessie Buckley) falls gravely ill, a reluctant Dolittle is forced to set sail on an epic adventure to a mythical island in search of a cure, regaining his wit and courage as he crosses old adversaries and discovers wondrous creatures. The doctor is joined on his quest by a young, self-appointed apprentice, Tommy Stubbins (Harry Collett) and a band of his animal friends, including a fearful gorilla, Chee-Chee (Rami Malek), an enthusiastic but bird-brained duck,Dab-Dab (Octavia Spencer), a bickering duo of a cynical ostrich, Plimpton (Kumail Nanjiani) and an upbeat polar bear, Yoshi (John Cena) and a headstrong parrot, Poly (Emma Thompson), who also serves as Dolittle’s most trusted advisor and confidante.  The film also stars Antonio Banderas as King Rassouli, Michael Sheen as Dr. Blair Müdfly, and voice performances from Tom Holland, Ralph Fiennes, Selena Gomez, Marion Cotillard, Frances de la Tour, Jason Mantzoukas and Craig Robinson.

Generic Clean Family Fun

The movie, much like the first Doctor Dolittle books from the 1920’s, pretty much follows the same format: A man talks to animals, a man then embarks on an ocean...

More time jumps than Dr. Who

I honestly thought this movie would be a tad better. The writers, Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese, have worked together on multiple movies such as Zombieland, Zombieland: Double Tap, &...

I have to admit I was not too thrilled with Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle when I first saw it. It took a few re-watches for me to warm up...

Banking on a hit

Elizabeth banks is probably the best person to tackle this movie. A movie about an organization that empowers women to change the world. I would love to see this continue...

Not the greatest movie I've seen, but it's the change they made with the characters that really pulled me in. After the first murder where they shove a giant lollipop...
