AMC Launches New Monthly Program For Movie Tickets

MoviePass has faced some struggles since it’s initial release (especially considering the company still hasn’t posted any profit). This has caused them to change up their subscription plan here and there much to the ire of subscribers. Currently, Movie Pass allows you to see one movie per day. That’s pretty great for only $10 a month, but strange roadblocks have popped up that rubbed users the wrong way (i.e. blackout dates on certain movies, ignoring some theaters, etc).

AMC has notoriously campagined against the MoviePass program, and today they’ve announced one of their own (imagine that). Their plan is $20 a month, which is double the MoviePass price and limited to only AMC theaters, but there are some other benefits that may make it worthwhile.

AMC Stubs A-List gives you three movies a week. Sure, that’s not as many as Movie Pass offers, but the kicker is that there are NO LIMITATIONS on those three films a week. You can use them all in one day if you wanted to, plus they include the premium theater offerings (IMAX, Dolby Cinema, RealD 3D). Stubs A-List is entirely web/smartphone based and allows you to book tickets online with the advanced seating reservations and everything; something you definitely can’t do with Movie Pass. They’re plan is also tied into their current AMC Stubs loyalt program, so even as you watch your “free” movies you can earn points towards free concessions and what not.

AMC Theatres is excited to announce that beginning Tuesday, June 26 the Company is adding a new tier to its AMC Stubs rewards program: AMC Stubs A-List, which rewards guests with up to three movies per week, along with all the benefits of AMC Stubs Premiere, all for just $19.95 (plus tax) per month. Through AMC Stubs A-List, members can enjoy any available showtime*, any AMC location, any format — including IMAX at AMC, Dolby Cinema at AMC, RealD 3D, Prime at AMC and BigD. AMC Stubs A-List can be used at the spur of the moment or also can make planning ahead days or weeks in advance possible, as securing tickets is made easy via reservations capabilities on the AMCTheatres.com web site, or on the AMC Theatres smartphone app.

AMC Stubs A-List joins AMC Stubs Insider and AMC Stubs Premiere in AMC’s fast-growing AMC Stubs loyalty program. In addition to seeing up to three movies per week, AMC Stubs A-List members also enjoy all the benefits of AMC Stubs Premiere, including free upgrades on popcorn and soda, free refills on large popcorn, express service at the box office and concession stand, no online ticketing fees and 100 points for every $1 spent for the AMC Stubs A-List monthly fee and food and beverage spending at AMC theatres. AMC Stubs Premiere members receive a $5 reward for every 5,000 points earned, which translates to a 10% credit toward future AMC purchases.

To be honest, if you frequently use AMC as your regular theater, there’s not a lot of reason to pass up on this new program. Even though it’s a little more than Movie Pass and doesn’t allow for movies EVERY DAY, the benefits still seem more than worth it.
