Marvel Studios delighted audiences with the first Ant-Man.  Its unique style and storytelling was a refreshing take to the normal superhero format.  Today, Marvel begins their venture to capitalize on the success of Ant-Man with their upcoming sequel Ant-Man & The Wasp!

It’s a silly announcement trailer but it it’s indicative of the fun Marvel has had with this character, and plans to have.  The question will be if it can hold on to the magic that they had in the first one.  Already the odds are a bit stacked against them since director Edgar Wright has had 0 involvement with Ant-Man & The Wasp.  Fans will remember that Wright was originally signed on to direct Ant-Man, but pulled out before it began.  Nonetheless, his fingerprints were all over that first film.

The good news is, the director and all of the terrific cast are returning so it’s looking good for the superhero sequel.

Ant-Man and the Wasp introduces Michelle Pfeiffer as the long-lost Janet Van Dyne and Laurence Fishburne as Dr. Bill Foster (a.k.a. Giant Man), along with Hannah John-Kamen (“Black Mirror,” “Ready Player One”), Walton Goggins (“Vice Principals,” “Six”) and Randall Park (“Veep,” “Fresh Off the Boat”).  Plus, the talented ensemble cast of Paul Rudd, Evangeline Lilly, Michael DouglasMichael Peña, Bobby Cannavale, Judy Greer, Abby Ryder Fortson, Tip “T.I.” Harris and David Dastmalchian are all returning to the project.

From the Marvel Cinematic Universe comes a new chapter featuring heroes with the astonishing ability to shrink: “Ant-Man and The Wasp.”  In the aftermath of “Captain America:  Civil War,” Scott Lang (Rudd) grapples with the consequences of his choices as both a Super Hero and a father.  As he struggles to rebalance his home life with his responsibilities as Ant-Man, he’s confronted by Hope van Dyne (Lilly) and Dr. Hank Pym (Douglas) with an urgent new mission. Scott must once again put on the suit and learn to fight alongside The Wasp as the team works together to uncover secrets from their past.

Directed by Peyton Reed, Ant-Man & The Wasp is expected to release July 6, 2018!
