Doctor Sleep Arrives on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray Early February

40 years ago, Jack Nicholson blew audiences away with his performance in “The Shining“. This year, we finally witnessed the final chapter of the Stephen King story with the film adaptation of “Doctor Sleep“. To kick off the year, you’ll be able to experience that finale again and again when Doctor Sleep comes home.

On February 4, 2020, Doctor Sleep will arrive on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray and DVD. Two weeks before that, audiences can own Doctor Sleep when it arrives on Digital January 21, 2020.

Burbank, CA, December 19 – Dare to go back when director Mike Flanagan continues the story of Danny Torrance, 40 years after his terrifying stay at the Overlook Hotel in “The Shining” with “Doctor Sleep,” a screenplay based on the novel by Stephen King.

The Director’s Cut features nearly 30 minutes of new, alternate and extended scenes, selected by director Mike Flanagan, not seen in theaters. The Director’s Cut will be available on the Blu-ray disc and Digital in the 4K UHD Blu-ray Combo Pack and the Blu-ray editions.  

The supernatural thriller “Doctor Sleep” stars Ewan McGregor (“Star Wars: Episodes I, II & III,” “Trainspotting”) as Dan Torrance, Rebecca Ferguson (the “Mission: Impossible” films, “The Greatest Showman”) as Rose the Hat and Kyliegh Curran (“I Can I Will I Did”), in her major feature film debut, as Abra. The main ensemble cast includes Carl Lumbly (TV’s “Alias,” “A Cure for Wellness”), Zahn McClarnon (“Strike One,” TV’s “Into the West”), Emily Alyn Lind (TV’s “Revenge,” “Enter the Void”), Bruce Greenwood (“Star Trek,” “I, Robot”), Jocelin Donahue (“The House of the Devil,” “Insidious: Chapter 2”), Alex Essoe (“Starry Eyes,” “House of Lies”) and Cliff Curtis (“Sunshine,” “The Dark Horse”).

Trevor Macy and Jon Berg produced the film, with Roy Lee, Scott Lumpkin, Akiva Goldsman and Kevin McCormick serving as executive producers.

Flanagan’s behind-the-scenes creative team was led by director of photography Michael Fimognari (“The Haunting of Hill House”), production designer Maher Ahmad (“Get Hard”) and costume designer Terry Anderson (“Den of Thieves”). The music score was composed by The Newton Brothers (“The Haunting of Hill House”).

Warner Bros. Home Entertainment presents, an Intrepid Pictures and Vertigo Entertainment Production, a Mike Flanagan Film, “Doctor Sleep.”

The 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray disc of “Doctor Sleep” will feature Dolby VisionTM HDR, which dramatically expands the color palette and contrast range, and uses dynamic metadata to automatically optimize the picture for every screen, frame by frame. It will also feature HDR10+TM, a new HDR technology that optimizes brightness levels and contrast for each scene, making bright areas brighter and dark areas darker to deliver a lifelike viewing experience.

The 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray disc of “Doctor Sleep” will also feature a Dolby Atmos® soundtrack remixed specifically for the home theater environment to place and move audio anywhere in the room, including overhead. To experience Dolby Atmos at home, a Dolby Atmos enabled AV receiver and additional speakers are required, or a Dolby Atmos enabled sound bar; however, Dolby Atmos soundtracks are also fully backward compatible with traditional audio configurations and legacy home entertainment equipment.

Doctor Sleep” will be available on Movies Anywhere. Using the free Movies Anywhere app and website, consumers can access all their eligible movies by connecting their Movies Anywhere account with their participating digital retailer accounts.

Fans can also own “Doctor Sleep” via purchase from digital retailers beginning January 21.

SYNOPSIS

Still irrevocably scarred by the trauma he endured as a child at the Overlook, Dan Torrance (Ewan McGregor) has fought to find some semblance of peace. But that peace is shattered when he encounters Abra (Kyliegh Curran), a courageous teenager with her own powerful extrasensory gift, known as the “shine.” Instinctively recognizing that Dan shares her power, Abra has sought him out, desperate for his help against the merciless Rose the Hat (Rebecca Ferguson) and her followers, The True Knot, who feed off the shine of innocents in their quest for immortality.

Forming an unlikely alliance, Dan and Abra engage in a brutal life-or-death battle with Rose. Abra’s innocence and fearless embrace of her shine compel Dan to call upon his own powers as never before—at once facing his fears and reawakening the ghosts of the past.

On February 4, “Doctor Sleep” will be made available digitally on Video On Demand services from cable and satellite providers, and on select gaming consoles.
