Alita: Battle Angel has had a storied past at getting made, and is finally coming to fruition. Now it is being met with mixed opinions on how it will do, but that is not stopping FOX from getting behind it and pushing the marketing. We have been given a new trailer that has a very specific vibe to it, check it out here:

So if you are paying attention you can really feel a strong James Cameron vibe to this trailer. While the film was originally set to be directed by Cameron before he went on to make Avatar, and the upcoming sequels. In his absence Robert Rodriguez (Sin City) took over, with Cameron filling the role of producer. And now with this trailer you can feel that Cameron probably had a hand in making the film rather than being a producer by name alone.

The official synopsis of Alita: Battle Angel reads:

From visionary filmmakers James Cameron (AVATAR) and Robert Rodriguez (SIN CITY), comes ALITA: BATTLE ANGEL, an epic adventure of hope and empowerment. When Alita (Rosa Salazar) awakens with no memory of who she is in a future world she does not recognize, she is taken in by Ido (Christoph Waltz), a compassionate doctor who realizes that somewhere in this abandoned cyborg shell is the heart and soul of a young woman with an extraordinary past. As Alita learns to navigate her new life and the treacherous streets of Iron City, Ido tries to shield her from her mysterious history while her street-smart new friend Hugo (Keean Johnson) offers instead to help trigger her memories. But it is only when the deadly and corrupt forces that run the city come after Alita that she discovers a clue to her past – she has unique fighting abilities that those in power will stop at nothing to control. If she can stay out of their grasp, she could be the key to saving her friends, her family and the world she’s grown to love.

Alita: Battle Angel hits theaters next year on Valentines Day. It will star Rosa Salazar, Christoph Waltz, Jennifer Connelly, Mahershala Ali, Keean Johnson, and Ed Skrein.
