4 years ago, Warner Bros. Pictures blew us all away with their feature film adaptation for the little blocks we all grew up loving, LEGOs. The LEGO Movie left audiences sore from several memorable and hilarious moments, and had us hoping for a sequel to come soon. After LEGO Batman and LEGO Ninjago, WB is finally ready to unveil the next chapter of The LEGO Movie series with a brand new teaser for The LEGO Movie: The Second Part.
As the title suggests, everything is far from awesome…
It’s been five years since everything was awesome and the citizens are facing a huge new threat: LEGO DUPLO® invaders from outer space, wrecking everything faster than they can rebuild. The battle to defeat them and restore harmony to the LEGO universe will take Emmet, Lucy, Batman and their friends to faraway, unexplored worlds, including a strange galaxy where everything is a musical. It will test their courage, creativity and Master Building skills, and reveal just how special they really are.
It’s only a teaser, but the sample size is enough to have me intrigue for what happens next. I love the idea that the world has turned into a Mad Max-like wasteland and the only person not living it like a wastelander is happy-go-lucky Emmet. It is pretty cool too, that they’re keeping the twist they introduced in the first film and having the LEGO user in the real-world’s sister join the adventure with the Sistar Sister.
The LEGO Movie: The Second Part releases in theaters on February 8, 2019, starring Chris Pratt as Emmet, Elizabeth Banks as Lucy (aka Wyldstyle), Will Arnett as LEGO Batman, Nick Offerman as Metal Beard, and Alison Brie as Unikitty, Tiffany Haddish, Stephanie Beatriz, and Arturo Castro as, respectively, Queen Watevra Wa-Nabi, Sweet Mayhem and Ice Cream Cone.
