The first trailer for Pixar’s Soul has arrived, giving audiences a glimpse at the all new story and characters we’ll be seeing next year.
Even though Pixar has Onward coming out first next year, today brings our first look at the second film they have coming in 2020, Soul, and it’s pretty great:
What instantly catches my attention is how realistic they’ve gone (for at least part of) this movie. Especially coming from Onward which is filled with the fantastical. While obviously things take a turn in Soul, it’s still interesting to see Pixar take this route, and I’m loving it. I’m already sold on the message of the film and I can’t wait to see more.
“Soul” introduces Joe Gardner, a middle-school band teacher whose true passion is playing jazz. In the film, just when Joe thinks his dream might be in reach, a single unexpected step sends him to a fantastical place where he’s is forced to think again about what it truly means to have soul. That’s where he meets and ultimately teams up with 22, a soul who doesn’t think life on Earth is all it’s cracked up to be. Jamie Foxx lends his voice to Joe, while Tina Fey voices 22.
Soul hits theaters on June 19, 2020.
