The long-delayed Sin City: A Dame to Kill For is still eight months away from release but the poster for the movie is out. The poster seems to indicate that the new film is going to be done in the same stylized black-and-white technique as the first.
The production has been fraught with problems and delays ever since the sequel was first announced. Rodriquez had first hoped to have the sequel done by 2007 but the proposed star Angelina Jolie dropped out. The failure of Grindhouse caused a pitfall in Rodriquez’s finances and reputation, delaying the sequel even further. He tried to jump-start the stalled project throughout 2008-2009. Things remained in glacial mode until 2012, when the cast finally came together. Original stars Bruce Willis, Jessica Alba, Rosario Dawson, Mickey Rourke and Jaime King were back on board. Josh Brolin stepped in to replace Clive Own as Dwight, while Dennis Haysbert came in to replace the late Michael Clarke Duncan. Eva Green (Casino Royale) was brought in to replace Jolie as the leading ‘Dame’.
With filming finally complete, the movie should be able to keep its August 22 2014 release date.
