As 2018 drew to a close, rumors and leaks began swirling that Sony/Marvel was showing the Spider-man: Far From Home trailer in different countries. Typically, that means that a trailer was just around the corner for the rest of the world. Unfortunately, this was the exception to that unofficial rule. Fortunately, some pleas from fans to Tom Holland coincided with Sony/Marvel’s trailer release schedule and we finally get our first look at Spider-man: Far From Home! Plus, a snazzy new poster (pictured)
Peter Parker returns in Spider-Man: Far From Home, the next chapter of the Spider-Man: Homecoming series! Our friendly neighborhood Super Hero decides to join his best friends Ned, MJ, and the rest of the gang on a European vacation. However, Peter’s plan to leave super heroics behind for a few weeks are quickly scrapped when he begrudgingly agrees to help Nick Fury uncover the mystery of several elemental creature attacks, creating havoc across the continent!
According to Sony Pictures, Spider-man: Far From Home is set to takes place after the events of Avengers: Endgame, which is one of the main reasons this trailer is so late releasing.
The trailer, itself, really delivers the goods, though. In it, we see our friendly neighborhood Spider-man on a trip abroad, far away from the burrows of New York. While he’s trying to get away from being Spider-man to enjoy his school tripe, conflict strikes, like it does, which forces Peter Parker (Tom Holland) to jump into action. A couple of brand new Spider-man suits are introduced with the winged glider and the stealth suit, reminiscent of the old Spider-man Noir suit. Plus, we get our first look at Jake Gyllenhaal as Mysterio and the first meeting between Samuel L. Jackson‘s Nick Fury, both of which already seem like a stellar pairings, just like Robert Downey Jr. and Michael Keaton were in Spider-man Homecoming. There is plenty more to unpack from this teaser, but the bottom line is that it’s a solid first teaser for one of 2019’s most anticipated films.
Spider-man: Far From Home, directed by Homecoming director Jon Watts, arrives in theaters July 5, 2019 starring Tom Holland, Jake Gyllenhaal, Zendaya, Samuel L. Jackson, Cobie Smulders, Marissa Tomei, and Jon Favreau.
