[Confirmed] Woody Harrelson Heading for the Han Solo Movie

The cast of the upcoming Han Solo film is starting to shape up, adding in yet another solid actor, Woody Harrelson.  Come inside for more details.

[Editor's Update 1/11/2017: Lucasfilm has made the casting official today, posting on their website with remarks from the film's directors:

“We couldn’t be more excited to work with an artist with as much depth and range as Woody,” said the film’s directors Phil Lord and Christopher Miller. “His ability to find both humor and pathos, often in the same role, is truly unique. He is also very good at ping pong.”

No word on what role he's playing, and whether or not he's playing the mentor role as initially rumored.  Either way, with the film set to start shooting next month, it's great to see the cast come today.  Original report follows.]

Original Report 1/03/2017: So yeah Rogue One was pretty damned amazing giving us fans more stories being told outside the trilogies. All you guys out there complaining that the expanded universe was done and gone now get some stories like those but visually. I’m still unhappy about Rogue Squadron by the way! But having enjoyed a few expanded universe tales I was really happy to hear about a young Han Solo movie. Well now we’re going to be able to see the guy that taught young Han as Woody Harrelson is in talks to join the cast as Han’s unnamed mentor. Reported from Variety apparently Harrelson is at the top of the list for the role.

With a cast consisting of Alden Ehrenreich, Emilia Clarke, and the one that made all the fans happy Donald Glover things are looking good talent wise for this film. Taking place before New Hope we’ll see how the smuggler became the moderate success that he is. Woody Harrelson to me is a great pick for this character as we’ve seen the man play so many varied roles. Now Disney would not confirm this report and it can be taken with a grain of salt, but seriously, how cool would this be? Look for the untitled young Han Solo movie to release May 25, 2018.
