It is a new era for Superhero films. And Fox is proving to be on a mission to be the first studio to get one nominated. Whether it's Deadpool, or now Logan, especially given its new premiere.
The superhero genre is getting better with every single film. And at the moment Fox is trying to hit damage control from Fantastic Four and X-Men Apocalypse. Luckily they gave us Deadpool. And Deadpool is grabbing up all the award nominations it can so far. Is it heading for an Oscar nom? We don't know. What we do know is that the star of the film, Ryan Reynolds, believes that it's another superhero property heading to the Oscars. And that is James Mangold's Logan. The "final" outing as Wolverine for Hugh Jackman.
Reynolds, speaking with Variety, said that “‘Logan’ looks like a movie that might break that glass ceiling, I know first-hand that it’s amazing. I’ve seen some of it. It’s mind-blowing. It relies a lot on character.” Then it was Mangold himself saying that Logan would be “a movie for grownups.”
But that is not story. The story is the newest tweet from Mangold. Where he confirms when his film will be premiering.
That's right, the Wolverine is headed to the Berlin Film Festival. It may not be Cannes or Sundance, but the Berlin Film Festival is still a prestigious ceremony. They have held some major films in the past, But Logan will be the first Superhero film to show at the festival. Could this be the beginnings of the first superhero Oscar nomination? We will have to wait and see.
Logan will hit American theaters on March 3rd 2017, after it's premiere at The 67th Berlin Film Festival will be held from February 9th through the 19th.
