The Witcher will be a new show exclusive to Netflix.
Andrzej Sapkowski’s The Witcher is being adapted into a television series on Netflix. The announcement came from the production companies own website which is currently down, probably from over-loaded servers.
The show isn't directly tied to the games, instead the show will be based off Sapkowski's 8 books and stories that the game were also based off of.
“Andrzej Sapkowski has created a rich and memorable world, at once magical and familiar,” said Erik Barmack, Netflix vice president, international series, in a statement. “We couldn’t be more excited about bringing Netflix members around the world.”
Sean Daniel and Jason Brown are serving as producers, while Sapkowski is serving as creative consultant. The press release makes no mention of CD Projekt Red or their games, which is a shame considering how fantastic they are. They brought the books to life in a way that will be hard to match by any medium. The Witcher 3 won several GOTY awards from various sources and continues to be one of the generation greats.
The company producing the series, Platige Image, have "digital animation expertise" listed on their website with ties to games like Ghost Recon: Wildlands and Prey.
