Takashi Miike is something of a polarizing director, but with 100 films under his belt, it's hard to deny his impact on genre filmmaking and the passion he has for the craft. Blade of the Immortal is an epic action/fantasy adventure based on a manga of the same name and looks all sorts of crazy in this first trailer. Bring your umbrella, though, there's tons of blood:
There's a lot of crazy action going on in the trailer, with plenty of humorous and eye popping moments. The premise is an interesting one which looks to be a boat load of fun. I'm definitely excited to see this one.
Samurai Manji has taken a lot of lives, both innocent and guilty, and now lives life in feudal Japan as a criminal. After being cursed with immortality until he kills enough evil men, Manji meets a young girl who enlists him to be her body-guard. Swearing loyalty, protection and vengeance against the group of sword fighters who slaughtered her family, the unlikely duo set on a remarkable quest to make right against those who did them wrong.
Blade of the Immortal is set to arrive in US theaters on November 3, 2017.
