One of the most controversial directors of our generation may have a big part in the development of the next film in the Star Trek franchise. More within..
It all started with an idea.
In an exclusive report byDeadline, the light bulb above Quentin Tarantino's head has just clicked on with what is being called a great idea for a Star Trek film. While the idea hasn't been divulged, it's being reported that it's so good that JJ Abrams had to set up a meeting with Paramount Pictures, once he heard about it. That meeting will be with a group of writers who will put pen to paper and try to produce a well-written movie for Paramount.
If all goes well, Tarantino could get his first directing gig for an existing cinematic franchise, with Abrams producing.
The hire could be a boon for Paramount and the Star Trek franchise, as Tarantino has been established as one of the greatest/controversial directors of our time. His interpretations of history and original cinematic ideas have delighted and shocked fans for years, making this addition the shot of adrenaline needed to reinvigorate the Star Trek franchise.
Even with the best case scenario, it will be a while until this Tarantino-led Star Trek film could be produced. Currently, Tarantino is working on his next film about Charles Manson for Sony Pictures with potentially Margot Robbie as Sharon Tate and Leonardo DiCaprio, Tom Cruise, and/or Brad Pitt. Meanwhile, Abrams is currently busy with the lofty project of wrapping up the Star Wars saga he started with Episode IX.
