One of the young stars of Netflix's hit show, Stranger Things, is getting her own leading role in a film as Sherlock and Mycroft Holmes' sister, Enola. See how Millie Bobby Brown got the role below.
It should come as no surprise that the young cast of Netflix's Stranger Things have quickly seen their stocks rise since Season 1 aired all at once on the streaming service. Their chemistry and acting chops are so good, it warrants their growing success. One actor in particular is Millie Bobby Brown, who plays Eleven, in the sci-fi series.
Her portrayal of the gifted psychic with little understanding of the English language and an affinity for Eggo waffles has opened the door to many new opportunities in the acting world. Most recently, she finished filming the Godzilla sequel with Legendary and Warner Bros. Pictures. Fortunately, it appears that the relationships formed with them has opened the door to yet an another opportunity, this time in the form of (potentially) her own franchise.
According to an exclusive report by Mike Fleming Jr. of Deadline, Millie Bobby Brown has been cast to play Enola Holmes, the younger sister of the more well-known detective Sherlock and his brother Mycroft. The film will be based on Nancy Springer's Enola Holmes Mysteries, a novel series that began in 2006. It started with The Case of the Missing Marquess and then continued across 6 novels, all featuring the very capable Enola Holmes.
It's still too early to know if Enola Holmes Mysteries will be a successful franchise, but the prospect of seeing one of Hollywood's rising stars get her own starring role in a relatively untraveled IP is exciting. I have no doubt that Brown will be able to capture the essence of Enola and do the Holmes family proud in this film. We'll have to wait and see if that Holmes family will include Robert Downey Jr., though, I highly doubt it.
Stay tuned for more on this as it develops.
By the way, if you haven't gotten a chance to binge Netflix's Stranger Things then stop everything you're doing and get caught up. Your spouse can watch it later. You don't even have to tell them you started it. They'll never know! Just hit start from the beginning on each episode and they'll be none the wiser.
