Today brings about the first trailer for an upcoming disaster/crime movie, The Hurricane Heist. This is not going to be a good movie, but that isn't stopping it from going all out. Come inside to take a look!
Remember Hard Rain? The movie about people trying to rob an armored vehicle in the midst of a massive flood in a small town...If you don't that's understandable, considering it wasn't all that great and flopped pretty hard upon its release. Since then, there's been a dearth of heist/disaster movies, but now that void is being filled with The Hurricane Heist and you can check out the first trailer here:
I can tell you right now that this isn't going to be a "good" movie. Between Tobe Kebbell's horrible accent and the general premise, this film is just a few steps away from Syfy channel schlock. That said, however, I'm absolutely going to be in the theater watching the crap out of it. It looks like the kind of goofy/insane B-movie (with A-movie money) action that I desperately wanted out of Geostorm.
Under the threat of a hurricane, opportunistic criminals infiltrate a US Mint facility to steal $600 million for the ultimate heist. When the hurricane blows up into a lethal CATEGORY 5 storm and their well-made plans go awry, they find themselves needing a vault code known only by one Treasury Agent (Maggie Grace), a need that turns murderous. But the Treasury agent has picked up an unlikely ally, a meteorologist (Toby Kebbell) terrified of hurricanes but determined to save his estranged brother kidnapped by the thieves. He uses his knowledge of the storm as a weapon to win in this non-stop action thriller ride charged with adrenaline throughout.
The Hurricane Heist hits theaters on March 9, 2018.
