Don't let the horrible Nun Pun put you off, come on inside to check out the spooky first trailer for The Conjuring 2 spin-off, The Nun.
The Conjuring films have now spawned more spin-offs than actual films in its own franchise. While the first two put the focus on the Annabelle doll from the first movie, The Nun (which made a quick cameo in Annabelle Creation) tells the origin story of the creepy demon from Conjuring 2. Today brings us our first look at the upcoming horror film:
Honestly, I'm not sure what to think here. I didn't really care for the Nun character in Conjuring 2 and thought the Crooked Man figure (who is ALSO getting a movie) was way more interesting/terrifying. The Nun mostly has the creepy look going, coupled with the inherently spooky vibes of old cathedral churches. Other than that, the trailer sets a decent tone, but the obvious jump scare does little to make it seem like something horror fans will care about. Perhaps I'm being too harsh, what do you think?
When a young nun at a cloistered abbey in Romania takes her own life, a priest with a haunted past and a novitiate on the threshold of her final vows are sent by the Vatican to investigate. Together they uncover the order’s unholy secret. Risking not only their lives but their faith and their very souls, they confront a malevolent force in the form of the same demonic nun that first terrorized audiences in “The Conjuring 2,” as the abbey becomes a horrific battleground between the living and the damned.
The Nun hits theaters on September 7, 2018.
