SDCC 2018 - Venom Sizzle Reel Reveals Riot (Not Carnage) Fighting Venom

Sony's SDCC panel had quite the reveal during their Venom sizzle reel.  We could see more symbiotes that we first imagined.  More within...

Often times with panels at San Diego Comic Con, it can be hit or miss if the studio will actually release the trailer or footage they show to the masses at the convention.  For Sony's 2018 SDCC panel, it was one of the misses, but that doesn't mean we didn't learn anything.  During a sizzle reel that saw Venom fighting a Silver Venom, Director Ruben Fleischer confirmed that this symbiote was none other than Riot.

When compared to the likes of Venom and Carnage,  Riot is a lesser known symbiote.  However, that doesn't mean he isn't powerful.  Riot is one of the offspring of Venom, one of 5 separated from Venom by the Life Organization, but unlike his brethren Riot's primary ability is to jump from host to host, making it hard to know who is Riot and who isn't.  He also has several similar powers to Venom like Super Strength, Wall Crawling, Web Generation, Accelerated Healing Factor, just to name a few.

As for Carnage and any other baddies, Fleischer hinted that Riot may not be the only villain we see,

“We are planning a big world with this Venom story."

Finally, we may never see the actual sizzle reel Sony showed at SDCC, but we do have a brief account from BC, who saw the footage from the floor.

Venom is holy crap awesome! It looks so true to Venom, a character that got me into comics, yet a different take on the character. The CGI was not completely done, but he looks awesome. No spider on his chest. Ruben Fleischer would love to see SpiderMan and Venom go face to face, but it sounds like that doesn't happen in this film, but a door is left open. No mention of Carnage, but Riot is in the film, and there are some dope scenes of them fighting! Looks like its gonna be fun.
