Today brings about the first trailer for the sequel to the surprisingly awesome shark movie, 47 Meters Down, but most of it is just a reminder that the first film was great. Come inside to take a gander!
I love shark movies, even bad ones, but 47 Meters Down was one of those surprisingly excellent ones. Filled with incredible tension, it delivered on a simple, but engaging, premise. If you haven't seen it, you should definitely check it out. Due to it's success (the indie film managed to garner a LOT of attention), a sequel was soon announced.
While 47 Meters Down: The Next Chapter (I suppose it's a better title than 48 Meters Down) doesn't release until next Summer, the studio behind it has launched a short teaser trailer:
Honestly, I'm not sure the reasoning, aside from the timing of The Meg's release, for launching this teaser trailer at this point in time. The bulk of the trailer is spent reminding you that the first film was a big success. When it gets to the sequel, there's very little actual footage to be seen, let alone any ideas on what the story will be this time around. I get trying to drum up interest, but this far out, with nothing to show, it just feels kind of odd.
47 Meters Down: The Next Chapter will hit theaters in June 2019.
