This morning, Disney has announced a big change for the upcoming Maleficent sequel by moving it forward from it's 2020 release date so it will now arrive this October. Come check out the first teaser poster which reveals a new title!
It's not often that we get to post news about a movie (or any title) moving forward in its release date. Normally, we're always talking about delays, but it looks like Disney is aiming to make sure 2019 is their year completely and fully. On top of Aladdin, The Lion King, Toy Story 4, Dumbo, Captain Marvel, Avengers: Endgame, and Star Wars Episode IX....We're also getting Maleficent: Mistress of Evil.
The House of Mouse announced the title this morning along with the new October 18, 2019 release date. The original film launched in 2014, sparking a new wave of live-action remakes of their classic animated films and made a BUNCH of money. As such, throwing the sequel into the mix with everything else is a domination move. On top of the release date and title, we also have this teaser poster to enjoy:
A fantasy adventure that picks up several years after “Maleficent,” in which audiences learned of the events that hardened the heart of Disney’s most notorious villain and drove her to curse a baby Princess Aurora, “Maleficent II” continues to explore the complex relationship between the horned fairy and the soon to be Queen, as they form new alliances and face new adversaries in their struggle to protect the moors and the magical creatures that reside within.
Maleficent: Mistress of Evil will hit theaters on October 18, 2019.
