Is Disney/Lucasfilm Planning on 2-3 Star Wars Films a Year?

I want to say Kotaku was the first site to really talk about it, so I'm going to go ahead and source them for this one.  Here's the quote from the magazine that is stirring up the internet and fanboys alike:

"Lucasfilm’s co-chairman and soon-to-be president, Kathleen Kennedy, has told employees she wants the company to produce two or three films a year (it’s averaged fewer than four per decade), and first up is Star Wars: Episode VII for 2015, which will pick up sometime after Darth Vader gave his life to overthrow (figuratively and literally) the Emperor and save Luke in 1983’s Episode VI— Return of the Jedi. Yes, the plan is to return to the characters in the first trilogy (1977–83). Whether the original actors will have significant roles or merely be on hand to pass the baton to a new generation of actors—something Lucasfilm tried with mixed success with Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull and Disney with TRON: Legacy—is unclear."

When the announcement of more films came, we knew they were working on Episodes VII, VIII, and IX, and that they would come out every two years.  Plans are also to continue with more Star Wars films that aren't necessarily part of any trilogy, but solo films that would focus on individual characters.  I'm assuming this is why everyone is jumping to the conclusion that we'll be getting so many Star Wars films in a single year.

However, it's important to note that Kennedy doesn't actually say it'll be 2-3 Star Wars films in a year, but that LUCASFILM as a company will produce that many films.  Meaning they could come from any number of properties that they control.  They could be Star Wars films, but they could just as easily be something entirely new as well, with nothing related to the galaxy far, far away. 

Personally, I'd love that many Star Wars films in a year (hell, that's pretty much what Marvel's doing), but I just don't see that happening.  When I spoke to my press contact for Disney/Lucasfilm, he seemed fairly confident that people were reading too much into it, and that they weren't going to be making 2-3 Star Wars films a year. 

Guess we'll just have to keep our hopes in check!
