Last week we saw an all too brief snippet of footage from the upcoming adaptation of the sci-fi classic, Ender's Game. With the footage, came the tease that the first trailer would be coming today...and it's finally here! Hit the jump to check out the how the book is finally coming to life.
This comes as part of a Google+ Hangout with the cast and crew, where they answered some fan questions. Let's face it, though, people have been dying to see footage from this film and that's most of what they cared about. Frankly, it doesn't disappoint either.
If you're a fan of the book, there's plenty in here to be excited about, and they show a lot of key scenes that had this fan giddy as a school girl. That being said, it's tough to say how much this actually gives away to those who haven't read the book. Regardless, this trailer has me much more confident in the film than I was before. Don't get me wrong, it was nothing personal or specific, it's just that this film has been struggling since it was released in the 80s to get on the big screen. With all those issues, some concern is understandable.
In the near future, a hostile alien race called the Formics have attacked Earth. If not for the legendary heroics of International Fleet Commander Mazer Rackham (Ben Kingsley), all would have been lost. In preparation for the next attack, the highly esteemed Colonel Hyrum Graff (Harrison Ford) and the International Military are training only the best young minds to find the future Mazer.
Ender Wiggin (Asa Butterfield), a shy but strategically brilliant boy, is recruited to join the elite. Arriving at Battle School, Ender quickly and easily masters increasingly difficult challenges and simulations, distinguishing himself and winning respect amongst his peers. Ender is soon ordained by Graff as the military's next great hope, resulting in his promotion to Command School. Once there, he's trained by Mazer Rackham himself to lead his fellow soldiers into an epic battle that will determine the future of Earth and save the human race.
Ender's Game hits theaters on November 1st. Well, what did you guys think of the trailer?
