Another day, and yet another Star Wars Episode VII rumor has come across our desks. Casting news for the new Star Wars film has been pretty slow pretty slow (as in almost non-existent) but the latest rumors link Ryan Gosling and Zac Efron to the project. Come inside to check out the reports.
With the new Star Wars movie set to begin filming in England’s Pinewood Studios soon, it’s surprising that we haven’t had much concrete casting news yet. Other than appearances by original cast members Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher, there have been no other big casting announcements about the much anticipated Episode 7 of the franchise, which will take place decades after 1983’s Return of the Jedi. Other than some rumors a few months back about Jonathan Rhys Meyers possibly coming aboard, and the fact that Leonardo DiCaprio turned down a role in the movie, casting information has been scarce.
Now, some inside rumors (coming courtesy of LatinoReview) have connected Zac Efron and Ryan Gosling to the project. While there’s no word on which part Efron is up for, the inside buzz says that Gosling would be playing the son of Luke Skywalker if he signs on.
Star Wars Episode 7 will be written by Michael Arndt and directed by JJ Abrams, and is scheduled for a 2015 release date. While all this is rumor right now, expect some firm casting news to be announced during Celebration Europe and Disney's D23 Expo, both of which are taking place next month. So if these casting choices turn out to be true, what do you think about them?
