Back on May 13th I published this article about Channing Tatum being cast as Gambit in an X-Men spin-off. Yesterday Deadline.com reconfirmed that everyone's favorite Cajun has been cast for future X-Men films. Sorry Deadline...It wasn't really an exclusive.
It is well known that actor, Channing Tatum, has been begging to play the role of Gambit in the X-Men movie franchise. Well producer Lauren Shuler Donner has apparently wanted the same.
When she spoke to Total Film she confirmed "It is Channing.". She went on to say the following:
Well, he’s a rogue, Channing, he’s a rascal, just like Remy LeBeau. And he can handle the action, we all know that. And he’s got a really good heart, because I know him personally, I did a movie [2006's She's the Man] with him. So I think he’ll be great. He’ll be great for Gambit. And he’s a Southerner, too. He’s not from New Orleans, but he is a Southerner, he understands that world. And you know Gambit loves New Orleans.
Channing is known for his roles in the films White House Down, The Vow, Dear John, Magic Mike, and many others. See his full filmography on IMDB.
The upcoming film with be based on the works of Chris Claremont who co-created Gambit with Jim Lee in 1990.
