Sam Raimi Talks The Last of Us, Maisie Williams Could Star

We've know that The Last of Us is being turned into a movie, with Sam Raimi guiding the film as a producer, but that's about all we know.  Today at SDCC, Sam Raimi took the stage to talk about the upcoming film along with the game and screenwriter for it, Neil Druckmann.  One of the more interesting tidbits is that Maisie Williams had been approached for a lead role.

[Update: Seems there was some confusion earlier on our parts.  We misheard what was said and mistakenly reported that Sam Raimi was directing the film.  That's not the case.  In fact, Raimi emphatically denied that he was helming the film, and was only producing.  Apparently he's busy working on an Evil Dead TV shot with Bruce Campbell.]

The ScreenGems panel (in which this has been revealed) is still ongoing so we don't have all the details that could be potentially coming.  We do know that Sam Raimi will not direct the film and that the script is being handled by Neil Druckmann.  The best news so far is that they've contacted Game of Throne's Maisie Williams (who plays Arya Stark) to portray Ellie!

Seems liek dead on Perfect casting to me.

We'll post more as we get it, but for now, what do you guys think about Sam Raimi handling The Last of Us movie?
