UPDATE: After publishing the article, it came out that it was always the plan for Doom: Annihilation to be released directly to DVD and Blu-Ray with no theatrical release.
A new teaser has been released for Doom: Annihilation and it looks like it’s going to be one Hell of a ride for all involved. Keep reading to find out more!
Universal has released a new teaser for Doom: Annihilation, the newest film based on the iconic Doom video game series. The teaser is incredibly short, but it does give a hint at what’s to come, namely demons. LOTS of demons.
Having never played the Doom games myself, I can’t say how faithful (or not) this teaser is to the games. However, the teaser makes it appear that this could be, at the very least, a decent sci-fi flick (and hopefully better than the last time they tried to make a Doom movie). One concerning note though, is that the film is skipping a theatrical release entirely, and is being released straight onto DVD and Blu-Ray (that is never a good sign). Still, part of me has to hope that Doom: Annihilation is at least a decent movie. We’ll find out soon enough.
The synopsis reads as follows:
On the darkest moon of Mars, scientists have found an ancient portal which allows teleportation throughout the universe. Considered to be mankind’s greatest discovery, it’s actually a gateway from hell, unleashing a swarm of demons looking to steal the souls of everyone who gets in their way. It’s up to Lieutenant Joan Dark and an elite unit of Marines to destroy an ever-growing horde of bloodsucking and soul-stealing beasts and prevent them from taking over planet earth.
Doom: Annihilation stars Amy Manson, Dominic Mafham, Luke Allen-Gale, and Nina Bergman. It will release on DVD and Blu-Ray on October 1, 2019.
