The first trailer for the upcoming horror film The Turning, which adapts the classic creepy tale The Turning of the Screw, has arrived.
Creepy kids? Check. Sprawling mansion that’s clearly haunted? Check. Creepy old ladies who obviously know more than they’re letting on? Check. Yep, this first trailer for The Turning has all the necessary elements to give you the chills:
I’m not a big horror fan, but on occasion I enjoy an interesting haunted house story. I’m digging the creepy children vibes (Finn Wolfhard really plays it out well here), as they seem to be a bit different than the norm. While many of the things shown in this trailer feel like horror movie clichés, it’s still highly effective.
For more than 100 years, a deeply haunting tale has been passed down to terrify audiences. Next January, DreamWorks Pictures’ The Turning takes us to a mysterious estate in the Maine countryside, where newly appointed nanny Kate is charged with the care of two disturbed orphans, Flora and Miles. Quickly though, she discovers that both the children and the house are harboring dark secrets and things may not be as they appear.
The Turning hits theaters on January 24, 2020.
