We knew that Josh Brolin would be playing the fanatic space titan Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War, parts 1 & 2, which are scheduled to come out on May 4th 2018 and May 3rd 2019 respectively. Naturally, he will be filming the two-part epic sometime in 2017. However, according to Brolin, he’ll be doing some more work as the notorious comic book villain in 2016.
While speaking to Nuke the Fridge at a press conference for his upcoming Inherent Vice, Brolin touched upon the subject of his future Marvel projects. Brolin said, “The fact that it’s like, yeah in 2016 and 17, what am I going to be doing? ‘Oh, I’m going to be doing that!’ I’m very lucky in that way, man. I just get presented these things and I go ‘wow, really? Why now and why this?’ The possibilities for Thanos are unlimited.”
So we’ll be seeing the Mad Titan before he faces off with Earth’s Mightiest Heroes in their third outing. Which Marvel film project(s) being filmed in 2016 will have Thanos making an appearance? Brolin isn’t saying, but any appearance by Thanos is doubtless going to give the unspecified film(s) a boost in buzz. The likely candidate is Guardians of the Galaxy 2, which is set for release on May 5th, 2017. (Rumored to also feature the Hulk.)
Brolin also commented to ComingSoon.net on Thanos’ role in the MCU and who his opponents would be. Brolin said, “Ultimately, it’s Thanos against everyone. Why wouldn’t you do that?“
