Star Wars Celebration gave us loads of amazing content to pine after for months. We received a trailer for a new story-driven game in Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order, details on The Mandalorian, New Hasbro toys, a new LEGO Star Wars game, and of course the epic teaser for Star Wars Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker, just to name a few. However, there was one tidbit of information Kathleen Kennedy let out that has piqued our interests.
Is a Knights of the Old Republic feature or series in the works at Disney?
Speaking with MTV News, the President of Lucasfilm confirmed that something KOTOR related is being developed:
#Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy talked to us about the future of #StarWars – including a Knights of the Old Republic movie and female filmmakers taking the helm, as well as Palpatine’s surprise return in the trailer for @StarWars #EpisodeIX pic.twitter.com/HCjEhdlRv7

While the clip is vague, having any sort of KOTOR-related content, regardless of film or series, is an exciting development. The LucasArts published, BioWare/Obsidian developed product has long been considered one of the best Star Wars video games of all time, and it has a lot to do with the extremely compelling story.
It’ll be interesting to see how this project develops. Something is in the works, but it’ll be up to Kennedy and her exceptional Lucasfilm team to see if a live action KOTOR is worth or capable of producing for the millions of Star Wars fans.
As more news on the KOTOR project is unearthed, we’ll have it here on Cinelinx.
Please consider checking out the rest of the interview, as it is excellent. Kennedy brings to light a focus for more female directors in future Star Wars films and even discusses how their test of multiple Star Wars films in a single year didn’t go as anticipated.
