Laeta Kalogridis is Writing the Script for a Knights of the Old Republic Movie

Ever since the video game Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic was released in 2003 and become a big success, fans of the game have wanted to see the game’s story adapted to film. Well today, that wish was finally granted, as it has been confirmed that Late Kalogridis is currently writing the script for a Knights of the Old Republic movie.

For those not familiar, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic is set 4,000 years before the events of Star Wars: A New Hope, during a period of war between the Jedi and the Sith. Players have to protect the Republic from Darth Malak and come to the aid of Jedi Knight Bastila Shan.

The script for Knights of the Old Republic is being written as the potential first installment in a trilogy. To be clear, this would be a separate trilogy from the trilogy being worked on by David Benioff and D.B. Weiss. Kalogridis’ involvement is also exciting because she is the first woman to write a Star Wars movie since The Empire Strikes Back in 1980.

It’s not clear when the Knights of the Old Republic movie will be released as the script is not yet finished, but it will definitely be exciting to watch the film develop and bring a much-loved Star Wars story officially into film canon.
