Lucas gives fans the chance to see Savage Oppress before anyone else

I’m a big Star Wars collector, and my collection takes up my entire house and is worth a ridiculous amount of money (not that I’d ever sell it), but the main thing I collect is Darth Maul stuff.  If there’s anything out there with him on it, I have it, and I scour stores and the Internet for anything new.  Hell, I gave a guy I didn’t even really know some money to pick up the Comic-Con exclusive Darth Maul this past year (and it’s beautiful).  So with Darth Maul’s brother, Savage Oppress, on the scene now there are sure to be more collectibles for me to pick up.

For those of you unaware, Savage Oppress made his first appearance during the trailer for Clone Wars Season 3, and fans have been speculating about him ever since.  Lucasfilm has finally decided to give up some of that information to eager fans in the form of this basic description:

A warrior forged by a dark sorcery as mystical and powerful as the Force, Opress will uncover shocking revelations about the galaxy’s tenuous balance of power, including secrets about one of the Sith’s most infamous villains — Episode I’s Darth Maul! From his origins to his fate, Maul’s mysteries will at long last be uncovered…

Does this mean Maul might make a cameo in the form of some flashback?  The mere thought has me excited!  Darth Maul just went out too quickly.  What could have been a great villain for at least 2 movies was cut short – and in half.  I’ve much lamented this turn of events but there’s not much you can do.  I know I’m not alone on this one, and part of me wonders whether or not Savage Oppress’ inclusion in Clone Wars isn’t some sort of apology to the fans.

Oppress won’t actually be making his appearance on the show until it picks up again in January, but Lucasfilm has decided to offer a free screening to select movie theaters.  There’s no real word on how much footage will be shown, but for fans like me…it doesn’t really matter.  As I said the event is FREE, but you are required to bring in one unopened toy to gain admittance.  For a list of cities that are offering this screening, be sure to check out StarWars.com’s official page for them.  For those who just can’t wait, be sure to watch the two videos I’ve place in here, as they were just released and feature oodles of new information and footage.
