Matrix 4 has added a high-profile actor to its ranks, while working on a return for a series favorite. More within…
Even though Warner Bros. Pictures and Village Roadshow Pictures wrote the final chapter in The Matrix trilogy all those years ago, the studio and distributor had always had eyes on plugging back into at some point. That time is now, as both parties announced plans to finally return to The Matrix for the fourth time, not long ago.
Since then, Lana Wachowski has signed on to direct “Matrix 4“, with Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss reprising their iconic roles. More recently, Matrix 4 also added Yahya Abdul-Mateen II to play a lead character. According to two separate reports, it appears we’ll have two more high profile actors joining.
The first is Neil Patrick Harris who, as Variety reports, has officially joined Matrix 4. However, his role is being kept under wraps, for the time being.
The other isn’t finalized yet, but Deadline is reporting that Jada Pinkett Smith is in talks to reprise her role as Niobe from the 2nd and 3rd Matrix films.
Both would be massive gets for Matrix 4, despite the fact that we aren’t 100% sure on what story will be told. The main rumors that are being floated around are that Yahya Abdul-Mateen II would be playing a young Morpheus.
Jada Pinkett Smith was a terrific addition to the Matrix series, as her Niobe character conveyed yet another strong female character. Meanwhile, this is a big move for one of Hollywood’s most talented performers in Harris. The former star of “How I Met Your Mother” has recently dipped his toes into some high profile films like “Gone Girl” and “Downsizing“. Though, Matrix 4 would undoubtedly be his biggest yet.
Production for Matrix 4 is set to begin at the beginning of 2020.
