The first teaser for Fantastic Beastshit last December and didn’t really give us a whole lot. It was light on content, but for eager fans looking to return to the wizarding world of Harry Potter (albeit several decades before), it was enough. Tonight’s new trailer feels much heftier, giving us looks at all the characters and a better idea of what’s going on.
I’m definitely digging the feel of this trailer a lot more, though I’m still searching for the primary plot device that provides the tension. As it stands, I love seeing the things we know and love, even a Dumbledore shoutout, in a brand new backdrop/time period. Based off of this, I can’t wait for more.
Academy Award winner Eddie Redmayne (“The Theory of Everything”) stars in the central role of wizarding world magizoologist Newt Scamander, under the direction of David Yates, who helmed the last four “Harry Potter” blockbusters.
“Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them” opens in 1926 as Newt Scamander has just completed a global excursion to find and document an extraordinary array of magical creatures. Arriving in New York for a brief stopover, he might have come and gone without incident…were it not for a No-Maj (American for Muggle) named Jacob, a misplaced magical case, and the escape of some of Newt’s fantastic beasts, which could spell trouble for both the wizarding and No-Maj worlds.
Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them hits on November 18, 2016. What do you guys think of this latest trailer.
