Coming seemingly out of nowhere, we’ve been hearing an awful lot about Disney’s plans for Tron 3 already (including a rumored title), and it looks as though the film will start production later this year with Joseph Kosinski back at the helm. Today, THR has revealed that Tron: Legacy stars Olivia Wilde and Garrett Hedlund will definitely be back to reprise their roles in the Fall when filming begins:
“Olivia Wilde and Garrett Hedlund are set to return for Disney’s Tron 3. The pair will reprise their characters from 2010’s Tron: Legacy in the sequel that is being directed by Joseph Kosinski. The project is now looking to shoot this fall, likely in Vancouver. Plot details are being kept offline.”
If you’re a fan of Tron: Legacy, this is of course, good news. Personally, I could not care less. I love the world of Tron, but Legacy was so poorly handled, I don’t really want to revisit this universe with all the same people attached. I’d be far more interested in the film with a new director on board, but as it is, I’m having a hard time getting excited about this.
What do you guys think? Ready to see Wilde and Hedlund back in action for more Tron?
