While we saw a snippet of the upcoming horror film (based on the iconic book) during the Super Bowl, today brings about a more proper trailer. In it, we get to see a bit more about how the story comes together along with new looks at the terrifying monsters brought to life:
This may sound like a bad thing, but this honestly looks like the horror movie version of the Goosebumps film. Based off what we’ve seen, that’s a pretty accurate description of how this film will play out and I’m honestly digging it. The monster designs look properly creepy and sure gave me the chills.
It’s 1968 in America. Change is blowing in the wind…but seemingly far removed from the unrest in the cities is the small town of Mill Valley where for generations, the shadow of the Bellows family has loomed large. It is in their mansion on the edge of town that Sarah, a young girl with horrible secrets, turned her tortured life into a series of scary stories, written in a book that has transcended time—stories that have a way of becoming all too real for a group of teenagers who discover Sarah’s terrifying home.
Scary Stories To Tell in the Dark hits theaters on August 9, 2019.
