When the first Laid to Rest hit in 2009, very few people actually caught this new entry into the slasher genre. Despite it’s insane levels of gore, mind-numbing violence, and depravity, it simply slid under the radar, masked by the massive features that ate up all its press.
But when Laid to Rest was picked up and shown on cable network Showtime, a cult following suddenly began to surround the film and sooner than you’d think, two more sequels were planned to continue the bloody legacy of the technologically savvy serial killer, Chromeskull.
So it was our good fortune that while the staff at TFW was running slightly behind, we were offered a glimpse into the follow up film, Chromeskull: Laid to Rest 2, via several clips and a teaser trailer courtesy of director Robert Hall and star Thomas Dekker.
Unfortunately, we were not allowed to take pictures or film during the event, but that doesn’t mean I can’t tell you that what we witnessed was one seriously effective teaser trailer, a clip detailing how in the hell Chromeskull survived the first film, the prospect of a government conspiracy regarding his killings, and one of the hardest and nastiest kills I’ve seen this side of Slashertown in years.
Chromeskull is big, strong, as hard to kill as a New York cockroach, and with his technical expertise, he’s back to settle the score with the people who nearly ended him in the first film and given the sudden presence of a special response team headed by Brian Austin Green, who knows where the story will take us next and how many will fail to survive until the credits roll.
Given Chromeskull’s current disposition, I wouldn’t guess many.
