20th Century Fox has released the first trailer for Ford v Ferrari, a film that’s based on the true story of how the Ford Motor Company set out to build what ultimately became the Ford GT40 in an attempt to take on Ferrari at the 1966 24 Hours of Le Mans race. The film stars Matt Damon as the legendary car designer Caroll Shelby and Christian Bale as car driver Kevin Miles.
The trailer does a good job setting up the stakes in this story. Henry Ford II wants to beat Ferrari at the famous 24 Hours of Le Mans race, a feat that is considered impossible. Car designer Carroll Shelby is given the task of creating a car that can get the job done, but there are numerous speed bumps along the way, with glimpses of some spectacular wrecks shown during the trailer. I don’t know much about this particular event, but the film does make me excited to see how it all plays out later this year.
Academy Award-winners Matt Damon and Christian Bale star in FORD v FERRARI, based on the remarkable true story of the visionary American car designer Carroll Shelby (Damon) and the fearless British-born driver Ken Miles (Bale), who together battled corporate interference, the laws of physics, and their own personal demons to build a revolutionary race car for Ford Motor Company and take on the dominating race cars of Enzo Ferrari at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in France in 1966.
Ford v Ferrari is directed by James Mangold and will be released on November 15, 2019
