First of all I want to say that I hate posting this stuff. It doesn’t even seem like news to me most of the time, but being that it’s Batman, it’s nearly impossible for me to ignore.
Collider got this email from a reader earlier today and it’s basically set the internet on fire. It’s divided fans between whether or not it’s fake and it’s just about all anyone can talk about. This is of course normal considering that it’s Dark Knight Rises and it’s one of the most anticipated films…ever. Here’s the full trailer description from Collider (spelling problems and all), we’ll talk more after:
Alight sir, here it is. I’m doing this on my phone so I’m sorry for any spelling and grammar mistakes.
-Trailer opens with studio logos set on top of the blue flame from Dark Knight.
Start panning up some buildings, but to screen card. EVERY HERO HAS A JOURNEY.
Cuts to a shot from Begins with Bruce walking up to that Village when he’s looking for Ra’s
Screen Card: EVERY HERO HAS AN END
Ra’s voice over: If you make yourself more than just a man. If you devout yourself to be ideal. And you become something else entirely. A legend Mr. Wayne….A LEGEND!
Screen Card: THE EPIC CONCLUSION
Cut to Gordon in a hospital bed laying on his side. Looks to be in serious pain. Has A breathing mask on. Is talking to someone.
Gordon: We were in this together, then you were gone…….Now this Evil rises. The Batman…..HAS to come back.(all this is said in a very raspy voice, in much pain)
Bruce/Batman(its not shown who he’s talking to, so don’t know in which form Bruce is visiting him in. My guess would be as Bruce Wayne) : What if he doesn’t exist anymore?
This part is the hardest to understand in the entire trailer, I listened to it at least 10 times but the score is over powering here and Gordon is having trouble talking. It sounds like if says Humor me while trying to laugh. I might be wrong here, full disclosure.
During this quick talk we’re shown a shot of the bat cycle when it drives up the ramp from Dark Knight, Gordon destroying the Act Signal all cut in with the Hospital. As well as super fast flashes of Bane’s face.
Pan up crumbling buildings to reveal the teaser poster, the camera zooms to the white opening and on an all white screen the title appears. The score reaches a fever pitch before turning over to The chanting from the website.
THE DARK KNIGHT RISES
Fades to black and then we see Batman backing away from something, then Bane enters from the left side of the screen. Very quick shot then the trailers done.
I have to say that I really wasn’t going to post this, TDKR or not. The description just sounded too cliche and…well, stupid for it to be legitimate. I mean, phrases like Every Hero Has a Journey is beyond cliche and I thought well beyond Nolan, and The Epic Conclusion just didn’t make sense to me. Sure, this is the final Chris Nolan Batman film, but Warner Bros has already made it clear that the Batman franchise will continue.
Either way, now Aint It Cool is reporting on the same thing, saying that this is coming from over in the UK where some theaters are playing it in front of Transformers 3…because that’s just how they roll apparently. Cinemablend now has the most compelling confirmation (in my mind) that this is indeed true. A reader of there’s who lives in the UK told them that it was true and even tweeted them a picture of the trailer from the theater as proof.
Sure, it could be some photoshop from the poster, but judging by the way the buildings are looking…that’d be some impressive work. The same guy also sent over a more brief but better worded description:
Gary Oldman voiceover, talking about how they needed him, then he had to disappear. Footage of Bruce Wayne walking up the mountain from Batman Begins, and surrounded by bats from Batman Begins. This is intercut with Gary Oldman looking like he is dying in a hospital bed, talking to what seems to be Bruce Wayne ion the foreground. Footage of the batpod driving away from the camera from TDK. Then it goes black, and Tom Hardy as Bane in his mask appears for a moment, then disappears. Logo in a crumbling skyline, as in the poster, then the film name, then a shot of a worn out Batman about to fight Bane in the foreground.
So at this point, I’m about as convinced as I can be that this is true. While I’m still not sold that the trailer sounds great, I’m still very much interested. With this now leaked out, I have a strong feeling that WB will be releasing the trailer sooner rather than later this week. Stay tuned to TMP as we’ll have it as soon as it drops!
