In 1984, Saturday Night Live cast member Eddie Murphy appeared in his first starring role in the movie Beverly Hills Cop. The film was a huge hit, becoming one of the top 10 most successful movies ever, at the time. There were two sequels and Eddie Murphy was launched into the show business stratosphere.
Now, nearly 30 years later, CBS is producing a Beverly Hills Cop TV series which will be a continuation of the famous films. The show will feature the adventures of young cop Aaron Foley, son of rebellious Axel Foley who turned Beverly Hills upside down in the original film trilogy. Like his father, Aaron will be a streetwise Detroit cop who finds himself unexpectedly working in affluent Beverly Hills, leading to a comical culture clash between himself and the local police. Brandon T. Jackson (Of Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief) is in final negotiations to star as Aaron.
Eddie Murphy has agreed to appear in the pilot episode of the series, reprising his role as Axel, who is now the captain of the Detroit police precinct where his son Aaron is working in the pilot. Murphy will be a recurring character in the series.
