Diego Luna Will Star in Second Star Wars Live-Action Series Set Before Rogue One

Well this is a pleasant surprise! During Disney’s annual earnings call (currently still going), Bob Iger talked about the upcoming Disney Streaming service, Disney Plus, and the various shows coming to it. On top of mentioning The Mandalorian and other series we’ve known about, he revealed a SECOND live-action Star Wars series is currently in the works for the platform.

It will be a prequel to Rogue One and will star Diego Luna, who will reprise his role from the film. Frankly, I couldn’t be more excited. He was one of my favorite parts of that movie, and his backstory has TONS of ground to explore. While that’s all we know at the moment, it’s still a pretty damn exciting announcement. Here’s a brief synopsis released from Star Wars’ official site:

The rousing spy thriller will explore tales filled with espionage and daring missions to restore hope to a galaxy in the grip of a ruthless Empire.

Be sure to keep it tuned here to Cinelinx as more information comes out. Until then, what do you think about a Rogue One prequel series?
