Live Action Legend of Zelda Show in the Works at Netflix

With the multi-show deal they scored with Marvel, House of Cards, Orange is the New Black and other hit shows, Netflix is continuing its bid to becoming TV heaven.  Hoping to add another feather in their cap, Netflix is currently in development with Nintendo to create a Live Action Legend of Zelda series!

While this is exciting, they are in the preliminary stages of the process (according to WSJ) so there isn’t much news in regards to a writer, cast, etc.  However, we do have an overall theme that Netflix and Nintendo are going for.  After witnessing just how wildly successful Game of Thrones is, Netflix is seeking a more family friendly version of the hit HBO show with this series.  That may be a bit hard to imagine for those who are fans of GoT.

Netflix has yet to hire a writer to create the series, however, they are working very closely with Nintendo to create a Live Action Legend of Zelda series that will do the beloved gaming franchise justice.

A lot of people may take a more pessimistic approach to this news.  Nintendo doesn’t really have a good track record when it comes to Live Action.  However, I prefer to take the optimistic route with this news.  Netflix has done a very good job developing its Original shows like House of Cards and Orange is the New Black.  The streaming company has also shown that it can create wide open worlds with the recently released Marco Polo.  Let’s just hope that Nintendo isn’t showing us this carrot and ultimately cancel this show.
