One of the things I’ve enjoyed most about the most recent era of Star Wars is how much they’ve leaned into the idea that Star Wars really is for everyone. On top of the films, they’ve released a number of other projects to appeal to audiences of various ages (a LEGO series, Forces of Destiny, Rebels/Resistance). Kids will keep the franchise going, but with so much already a key part of the series’ mythology, it can be a lot to take in.
To this effect, Lucasfilm has announced a new Star Wars website specifically for kids, along with a Star Wars Kids YouTube channel where a series of animated shorts will debut to introduce younger audiences to key aspects of films and overall story. The first six episodes will drop on November 30th, with more to follow in December, along with a line of Galaxy of Adventure toys. All of this will continue into 2019 to help build up to the release of Episode IX. Check out the trailer:
Making their debut on November 30th on the newly created Star Wars Kids Website (www.StarWarsKids.com) and Star Wars Kids YouTube channel, the first 6 exciting shorts will be accompanied by fun mixed media educational pieces designed to help older fans, parents and other mentors welcome the kids in their lives to explore a galaxy far, far away. Additional shorts featuring fan-favorite characters will debut in December and then on a weekly basis starting in 2019.
The adventure continues across a variety of product and platform categories including a new line of Hasbro toys available on December 1st exclusively at Walmart and then nationwide in January 2019.
Star Wars Galaxy of Adventures begins a year-long celebration which will culminate with the final chapter in the Skywalker saga — Star Wars: Episode IX — in theaters December 2019.
Will you be getting in on the Star Wars Galaxy of Adventures fun?
