9 Actors We'd Like to See in The Expendables 2

With work on the Expendables sequel already well under way, fans are soon to be hearing some casting news. While this past week has seen Bruce Willis confirmed, and Jean-Claude Van Damme rumored to be joining, it's got me thinking: what other actors would we like to see? The first film prided itself on bringing together a large group of action movie stars both old and new, but there are still plenty of older action stars left. Here's our list of the ones we want to see in Expendables 2.

Dwayne Johnson
You had Stone Cold Steve Austin in the first film, so why not throw The Rock in the sequel? Honestly though, I'm really surprised Johnson wasn't in the first film. Of all of the wrestlers turned actors, Johnson has actually shown talent for it, and produced some fun and entertaining performances. Now that he's done for the moment doing family movies, it'd be great to see him take on a hefty role in Expendables 2.

Chuck Norris
Seriously, do I really have to bring this up. Chuck Norris should be a given for the Expendables. Of course they may be afraid to utilize him since he could obviously kill everyone with a single kick...Anyway, all joking aside, Norris is a great choice for this movie. He's another early action star and was pumping out films right along with Stallone and Arnold, so he fits well into the time frame. Besides that, he went toe-to-toe with Bruce Lee, 'nuff said.

Danny Trejo
If Machete showed us anything, it's that Danny Trejo is someone who needed the spotlight on them earlier. He's got the chops for an action role, and can play a crazy enough character that it'd be interesting to see him interacting with all of the others from this movie. If anything, I'd see him in a smaller role, but I think he still deserves a nod in this movie.

Carl Weathers
I don't know how Stallone can put in Dolph Lundgren, yet totally ignore one of the biggest characters from his Rocky movies: Apollo Creed. This was the most surprising omission from the first film for me. I thought for sure Carl Weathers would have been in Expendables in some fashion. Anyone who can defeat Stallone (then later train him), and fight a Predator with Arnold definitely deserves a spot in this movie.

Mel Gibson
I know many of you are probably raising an eyebrow at this one, but back in the day, Mel Gibson did his fair share of action movies. Mad Max, Road Warrior, and all of the Lethal Weapon movies are fine examples of this. While he's not as straight forward of an action star as the rest, he would be very interesting to see him in a movie like this. I think he could bring something to the film (and not just craziness).

Christopher Lambert
Highlander....That is all.
In all seriousness, Lambert would be a very interesting choice for Expendables 2. While he hasn't done action films in a while, it's something he did well with the Highlander and Fortress movies. More than anything, I'd love to see him as a villain. He's got this crazy side to him, and looks as if he could snap and go nuts at any minute. He's got an edge and gives off a sense of danger. Him in any villain capacity would be amazing to watch.

Vin Diesel
This is another actor who surprisingly wasn't in the first film. As big an action star as he's become (though he seems to have backed off a little bit), he seems like the perfect fit. That and it's about the only movie in which he'd look tiny compared to everyone else.

Sasha Mitchell
Another 80s/90s throwback, but it's one I'm sure plenty of people don't quite get. Initially you may be thinking to yourself, "That's Cody, from Step-By-Step!" Yes. Micthell did play the dimwitted cousin on the family TV show, but before that he took over for Van Damme in the Kickboxer movies (did 3-4 of them too). The man hasn't done much in the past decade or so, but if we're reviving old action stars, he deserves a mention.

Michael Jai White
Sure, you may not have enjoyed Spawn very much, but Michael Jai White did the best he could with it. He held his own against Van Damme in Universal Soldier: The Return, and he just exudes this air of...bad ass. He's got the look down and the acting ability to bring something interesting to this movie.
There you have it. While they aren't all the best actors, or people we've seen in a while, this list features some heavy hitters. All of them would be fun to see in the next Expendables movie (even if it's only a cameo), if only to keep with the theme that 'everyone' is in the movie. You've heard my list, so who would you like to see in the next flick?
