Does it deserve to win?

Any film that makes a whole audience faint did something right.  I will be seeing the film tonight, and I hope it will be a poignant experience.  Danny Boyle is an excellent director, and I expect a lot.  Let's hope the film can deliver.

Stuck Rock1

-Much like James Franco in the film, Aron Ralston filmed daily video diaries for his family to see.  They were kept in a private vault that only Aron could open.  Before filming began, Ralston showed the tapes to James Franco and Danny Boyle

-Danny Boyle asked James Franco to learn the music of Phish for the  sole purpose of getting inside Ralston's head (Phish is Ralston's favorite band).

-Ralston broke into tears during a Q&A at TIFF when asked how he felt about seeing his struggle portrayed on film.  Baby...if I cried for every rock that fell on my hand and every missing arm, I wouldn't be where I am today.

-James Franco had a stack of text books hidden in his small set to distract him from the claustrophobic conditions.

-James Franco wasn't Boyle's first choice for the role--long time collaberator Cillian Murphy was. Murphy is in another Oscar nominated film, Inception.  Happy ending for everyone.
