Since the days of Halo: Combat Evolved, fans have gathered together to watch people compete against each other.  Compared to now, the graphics weren’t always the best but the multiplayer was certainly revolutionary enough to pique people’s interest, including my own.  Back in those days, Major League Gaming was a start-up that was just getting its sea legs.

Fast forward to the present and MLG is a fully-fledged business with tons of followers, eSports reach, and covers various eSports events.  This January, they’ll add a new championship series for a franchise that once helped make eSports a thing before it became the global sensation it is today.  343 Industries, the developers of the Halo franchise since Halo 4, have decided to partner up with MLG to create the Halo Championship Series!

Coverage of HCS will begin in January on MLG’s GameBattles platform, but that will just be a taste of what’s to come.  343 and MLG are partnering up to work hand-in-hand to pull of the next Halo World Championship series, that will start February 2018 in Orlando and end late April in Seattle.  Over the course of the series, MLG and 343 will give away over $1 million to successful eSports teams.
